12 Ringless Voicemail Scripts That Actually Get Callbacks

A voicemail drop campaign lives or dies on thirty seconds of audio. Same list, same platform, same send time — change the script and the callback rate moves dramatically.

Below are twelve scripts that work, organized by industry, plus the pattern they all share.

The pattern behind every good script

Before the examples, the structure. Nearly every high-performing drop does four things in order:

  1. Names the person and identifies you in the first five seconds.
  2. Gives a specific reason for the call — not “just following up,” but something concrete and relevant to them.
  3. Makes exactly one ask: call back.
  4. Ends with the number, spoken slowly, and stops.

And the most important rule: keep it under thirty seconds. Long messages get abandoned midway. If your script runs past forty, cut it rather than talking faster.

Real estate

Expired listing

“Hi [First Name], it’s [Your Name] with [Brokerage]. I saw your listing on [Street] came off the market, and I’ve got two buyers actively looking in that area. If you’re still open to selling, I’d like to share what I’d do differently. Call me at [Number].”

Past client check-in

“Hi [First Name], [Your Name] here — I helped you buy on [Street] back in [Year]. Values in your neighborhood have moved quite a bit since then and I thought you’d want to know where yours stands. No obligation, just information. [Number].”

Automotive

Equity mining

“Hi [First Name], it’s [Your Name] at [Dealership]. Your [Vehicle] is worth more on trade than most people expect right now, and I think I could get you into something newer for close to what you’re paying. Call me at [Number] and I’ll run your numbers.”

Service reminder

“Hi [First Name], [Your Name] from [Dealership] service. Your [Vehicle] is due for [Service] and we’ve got openings this week. Call [Number] and I’ll get you scheduled.”

Lending

Abandoned application

“Hi [First Name], this is [Your Name] at [Company] about the application you started. You’re closer than you think — we need one more document and we can move forward. Call me at [Number] and we’ll finish it today.”

Rate change

“Hi [First Name], [Your Name] at [Company]. Rates moved this week and based on your current terms it’s worth a look. Takes five minutes to see if it makes sense. [Number].”

Home services

Storm response (roofing)

“Hi [First Name], this is [Your Name] with [Company] in [Town]. We’re inspecting roofs on [Street] after last week’s hail — most of the damage isn’t visible from the ground but insurance typically covers it. Free inspection. Call [Number].”

Cold estimate revival (remodeling)

“Hi [First Name], it’s [Your Name] from [Company] — I quoted your [Project] back in [Month]. Two things changed: we have financing now, and I’ve got an opening in [Month]. If you’re still thinking about it, call [Number].”

Seasonal booking (landscaping)

“Hi [First Name], [Your Name] from [Company]. Putting the spring schedule together and wanted to hold your spot before it fills. Same service as last year, current pricing if you confirm this week. [Number].”

Solar

Neighborhood proof

“Hi [First Name], it’s [Your Name] with [Company]. [Utility] raised rates again, and we’re finishing installs on [Street] this month — most of those homeowners locked in less than their old bill. Want to see your numbers? [Number].”

Insurance

Renewal

“Hi [First Name], [Your Name] at [Agency]. Your policy renews [Month] and I found a couple of options worth comparing before it does. Quick call, might save you real money. [Number].”

Call center / general B2B

Inbound lead follow-up

“Hi [First Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company] about the [Product] request you submitted. I have your details here and need two minutes to confirm a few things. I’m here until [Time] — [Number].”

Three mistakes that kill callback rates

Sounding like a broadcast. Read your script out loud. If it sounds like an ad, rewrite it until it sounds like a person leaving a message.

Burying the reason. If the first ten seconds are pleasantries, most listeners are gone before you get to the point.

Multiple asks. “Call me, or text, or visit our website, or reply to the email I sent” produces less action than a single clear instruction.

Test everything

Every list responds differently. Record two versions of the same message, split your list, and compare callback rates. The winner is often not the one you’d have picked.
